-J.R., Client

Oszkar Denes is a dedicated personal injury lawyer. He founded Denes Lawyers in 2017. Prior to launching the firm, he worked for approximately 10 years for large national law firms in insurance defence. He now acts exclusively for the injured. Having worked on both sides of the claims process, he understands how insurance companies assess and manage claims. His clients benefit from this perspective through informed advice and strategic claim preparation.

A decade of results for injury victims

Since his admission as a solicitor in 2008, Oszkar Denes has acted in a wide variety of personal injury claims. These include:

  • Workers’ compensation: acting for clients in a range of industries, including meat works, nurses, fly in fly out (FIFO) mine workers, youth workers and carers, truck drivers
  • Spinal cord injury claims: representing clients who suffered quadriplegia and paraplegia. These claims also involve navigating common law damages claims and pursuing entitlements under the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland
  • Burn victims
  • Catastrophic injuries, including amputations and crush injuries in road accidents and workplace incidents
  • Motorcycle accidents, including several clients working as Uber Eats and other delivery riders
  • Contested, high risk claims where insurers have disputed liability, including matters involving allegations of drink driving and burnouts, where the legal issues are novel or remain unsettled.
  • International clients: acted for clients from Brazil, USA, Peru, UK, France and Hungary
  • Medical negligence claims against hospitals and dentists

Oszkar Denes is involved in every matter from start to finish. He develops strong relationships with each of his clients.

Preparing every matter for trial

At Denes Lawyers, every matter is prepared as if it will go to trial. While many Queensland personal injury claims eventually settle, being ready for trial positions clients for better settlement outcomes. The fact is, when insurance companies know that a deserving claimant is ready for trial, this does impact negotiations.

Our approach also means that we act in matters which we would be happy to run all the way to trial if necessary. Compared to large corporate firms, we run relatively fewer claims with a focus on serious personal injuries.

Oszkar Denes was born and raised in Hungary. He moved to Australia at the age of 23. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia

Year of admission as lawyer: 2008
